Remixes JID010 continues the creative catharsis of an exhilarating new chapter in jazz music. Adrian Younge & Ali Shaheed Muhammad tapped nine iconic creators to reimagine their personal favorites from Jazz Is Dead’s catalogue to-date.

Instrumentals JID009 captures the musical alchemy produced at the Linear Labs Studio by Adrian and Ali and their featured guests: Roy Ayers, Marcos Valle, Gary Bartz & João Donato.

The shadow that Gary Bartz casts over the last six decades of progressive Black music, and his continued dedication to same, makes him a logical and very welcome contributor to the Jazz Is Dead label.

Adrian Younge releases The American Negro, his most important work to date. The album is an unapologetic critique detailing the systemic and malevolent psychology that afflicts people of color.

“I’m sacrificing myself to deliver a message,” says the composer, multi-instrumentalist and now podcast-maker Adrian Younge. “We aren’t aware enough of black history, nor of the integral role black people have played in building America.”

Doug Carn JID005 helmed by Adrian Younge and Ali Shaheed Muhammad, takes his unique and timeless art and places it within the context of a musical culture that has always taken cues from his ‘70s classics.
